After working in an office for many years, I realized that I was missing passion and a sense of purpose in my life. I knew I wanted more for myself but I didn't know how to find the path I felt I was meant to take.
I started to question what was important to me and what were my true interests. Ever since I was very young, I had designed everything from gowns to furniture and interior spaces. As an adult, I had ignored my instincts but never lost my desire to create. After researching different forms of art that I could easily produce from home, I discovered that designing handcrafted accessories was a natural direction for me considering my detail-oriented personality. I started by taking classes, purchasing supplies and experimenting with my style. I began to realize my passion had been lying dormant all along and decided to make a career out of my new talent.
It then became time to decide on an identity for my creations. Should I entitle them after myself or name them something meaningful? I did both; I titled my work Hellfire partially after my name, Helen, and for what I have had to overcome while following my path. I have learned that even in the darkest corners of doubt and fear, with faith in yourself, you can find strength and success. Hellfire is the dark place I came from and the fire within that propels me forward.
